2013 Expo will host leading companies, executives, policy makers and other thought-leaders at North America's largest alternative fuel and clean vehicles conference
WASHINGTON, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2013 Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo makes its East Coast debut today at the Walter E. Convention Center, convening the largest gathering of alternative fuel and clean vehicle stakeholders in North America this year. Partnering with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), ACT Expo 2013 will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the DOE's innovative Clean Cities program, which has played a significant role in developing the market for alternative fuel and clean vehicle technologies.
More than 3,000 stakeholders are expected to gather for the 2013 ACT Expo June 25 – 27 to examine challenges currently facing the clean transportation industry and how they can be overcome via exciting advancements and new investments in vehicle and fuel technologies. The conference will also host some of the biggest adopters of alternative fuels like UPS, Proctor & Gamble, Frito-Lay, GE, and FedEx to showcase real-word success stories of clean vehicles powered by electric, hybrid, hydrogen, natural gas, propane and renewable fuel technologies deployed across the continent.
With energy and transportation issues at the forefront of domestic policy discussion, ACT Expo is set to attract government, commercial and private decision-makers interested in transitioning to clean vehicles and exploring advanced technology options to allow an alternatively-fueled future to become a reality.
On June 26, ACT Expo will host Nancy Sutley, chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality; and Dan Utech, deputy director for energy and climate change, domestic policy council at the White House; Byron Dorgan, senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center and former Senator of North Dakota; and Chris Grundler, director of the EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality for a policy roundtable discussion to discuss how federal policies can help advance the market for alternative fuel vehicle technologies. Rep. Fred Upton, chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, will give closing remarks for the roundtable.
Companies participating in ACT Expo 2013 that are helping pave the way to alternative fuel future include America's Natural Gas Alliance, Propane Education and Research Council, Ryder System, Inc., Shell Oil Company, Volvo, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, and many others representing all fuel types and vehicle classes.
