Large Independent selects Infrastructure Networks for Advanced Wireless Communications in the Permian Basin
HOUSTON, April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Infrastructure Networks, Inc. (INET), a leading provider of industrial LTE wireless broadband services to Oil & Gas and other critical infrastructure industries, today announced it has signed a substantial multi-year contract with a large independent exploration and production company to provide wireless connectivity in the Permian Basin; improving worker safety, productivity and efficiency.
Under this new contract, the large independent will be utilizing Infrastructure Networks' industrial LTE network, which is the first open standards based wireless network dedicated to critical infrastructure, which includes the oil and gas industry. The network currently covers 18,000mi2 of the Permian Basin and will be expanded to 25,000mi2 in 2015.
INET's network enables Oil & Gas companies to have instant connectivity to people and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications in the field. This connectivity provides the fundamental platform to unlock the value of data that can be captured and shared by smart devices. This provides Oil & Gas companies the ability to operate each well or rig more efficiently, reducing downtime.
Carl MacKinnon, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Infrastructure Networks, said, "We currently have a strong presence in the exploration sector of the oil and gas industry, this new contract demonstrates a growing awareness in the industry of the scalability of INET's industrial LTE and its ability to transform broadband connectivity in all areas of the oil field." Carl continued, "INET's services were selected after an exhaustive study by the customer of its requirements for high speed, reliable communications that reduce costs, increase productivity and improve safety. We are excited by the pace in which new solutions are being deployed by customers. The availability of reliable and secure broadband is a game changer for the industry."
Implementation of this new contract will begin immediately, and INET will be providing services under this contract beginning in the second quarter of 2015.
