Lantiq Demonstrates Bonded VDSL + LTE With Up to 300 Mbps
Lantiq's DSLTE™ technology enables carriers to offer combined DSL and LTE for highest data rates
TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, is showing its breakthrough DSLTE™ technology demo during the Computex show in Taiwan. The demonstration is based on a Lantiq reference design that combines a bonded VDSL broadband access link with an additional LTE access link in a single residential Gateway. This advanced technology setup enables equipment manufacturers to provide service carriers with systems offering highest bundled data rates and flawless Quality-of-Service (QoS) that leverage their existing DSL and LTE networks.

Carriers combining mobile and fixed line network access can create one broadband pipe that reaches up to 300 Mbps aggregated data throughput with high reliability.
A growing number of network operators face the competitive challenge to offer broadband access rates beyond 100 Mbps. The combination of VDSL2 and LTE using Lantiq DSLTE™ technology enables operators to reach this performance goal, with minimum investment as they smartly re-use their existing network infrastructure.
DSLTE™ Highlights and Benefits
- The reference design is based on Lantiq's AnyWan™ XWAY™ GRX Network Processor family, which includes Lantiq's latest technology for bonded VDSL and Vectoring
- The pre-integrated LTE Module combined with the Lantiq platform enables throughput of up to 300 Mbps with minimum CPU load
- Efficient usage of the aggregated 300 Mbps speeds is controlled by a software based traffic management suite running on the Lantiq GRX network processor
Comments
Dirk Wieberneit, Lantiq Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) Business:
"With minimum investment, carriers can boost their network performance and at the same time significantly increase their network reliability for fallback scenarios. Lantiq DSLTE™ combines our proven communications processor and VDSL transceiver families to secure best in class data link reliability for broadband services. Especially in rural and suburban areas this can be the technology of choice for the carrier to bring high quality broadband to its customer base and minimize the churn rate."
HY Lee, CEO, Arcadyan: "With DSLTE™ technology, Arcadyan can expand the link tunnel bandwidth up to 300Mbps from home connectivity to WAN through link aggregation. It is a great weapon for telecom operators to compete with cable operators."
Michael Clegg, GM &SVP Service Provider Business at NETGEAR: "As more operators look for solutions to offer higher speeds to their DSL customers, adding an LTE WAN interface to the DSL gateway is a smart way to reach this goal with a minimum investment for the operator. Besides enabling higher WAN speeds by aggregating traffic through this dual WAN interface, DSLTE™ also provides solid network connectivity by enabling seamless failover from one WAN to the other WAN interface, when one of them becomes inoperable. This makes DSLTE™ attractive. As a leader in developing innovative and field-proven products in the fixed and mobile broadband market, NETGEAR is uniquely positioned to drive the DSLTE™ technology into deployment-ready products."
