MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today announced a new version of its DUSLIC™- xT, a single package SLIC (Subscriber Line Interface Circuit) that provides all necessary functions to implement voice telephony in broadband customer premise equipment (i.e., xDSL, fiber and cable gateways). Drawing on decades of experience and a leading market position in voice telephony, the Lantiq DUSLIC-xT allows manufacturers to use a single design for both single- and two-channel voice line systems.

As communications service providers continue the transition to xDSL, fiber and cable-based broadband, standard telephone line termination in broadband gateways has become an essential part of next-generation network deployments, resulting in growth for the voice line interface. Lantiq's single package solution enables optimization of system design and costs by providing unmatched flexibility and performance.
System in Package Solution for Voice Lines
- At Broadband World Forum (BBWF), October 16-18 in Amsterdam (Booth C4), Lantiq will show the new version of the DUSLIC-xT, which measures just 10x10 mm in pin-to-pin compatible single- and dual-channel versions, allowing system manufacturers to use a single PCB card for one or two voice circuits.
- A Bill of Materials saving of 30 percent compared to competitor's legacy solutions and the ability to implement designs on a 2-layer PCB allows system manufacturers to offer systems with voice telephony with Central Office grade performance and full wideband (16 kHz/16 bit) support at optimized system cost
- With industry leading lowest power consumption, measured in both on and off-hook conditions, system manufacturers can meet stringent Code of Conduct requirements while using a smaller power supply to further improve system design and cost.
- DUSLIC-xT supports industry standard (GR-909) line test requirements and additional unique tests such as electronic ring detection to validate lines that have no handset attached.

Johannes Eiblmeier, head of marketing of Lantiq's Access Networks Business Unit: "Delivering high quality voice telephony at a low system cost will remain a requirement for CPE vendors for many years. Driven by Next Generation Network deployments such as PON in China, voice circuits in broadband gateways will grow more than 10% year-over-year from the 100 million lines we saw in 2011. Lantiq's goal is to deliver best-in-industry performance and system cost advantage to enable our customers to differentiate their offerings and be successful in the competitive broadband gateway and home networking markets."
Availability
The new DUSLIC-xT devices in a VQFN-88 package are available now for development and system production. Evaluation boards, as well as several reference designs, are available to speed integration with a wide range of xDSL, fiber and cable modem network processor solutions.
