Lane Bryant to Heat Up Catwalk in Sin City, Staging First Fashion Show in Nearly a Decade
On Heels of the Red Bra "Too Hot for TV" Firestorm, Plus Size Leader Turns up the Heat with Debut of Sizzling New Lingerie and Ready to Wear Ensembles
Celebrity Plus size Models Ashley Graham and Lizzie Miller to Headline Jaw-Dropping Runway
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Less than a year after a plunging red bra ignited a media firestorm and became an instant YouTube sensation, Lane Bryant – creator of the Cacique lingerie ad deemed too hot for television – is set to turn up the heat as it debuts dozens of sizzling new lingerie and ready-to-wear ensembles in the brand's first return to the catwalk in nearly a decade. The show takes place on February 20th at Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip.
Celebrity plus size supermodels Ashley Graham, the sensationally curvaceous star of the now award-winning commercial, and Lizzie Miller, who rocked the world by fearlessly showing off her "wobbly bits" in a photo spread, as well as Sydni Sales, a Las Vegas native and winner of the "Be a Lane Bryant Runway Model" contest, will headline a runway of voluptuous beauties flaunting fashionably jaw-dropping looks. From feathers, leather and lace to studded silver grommets and sparkling crystals, the audience will enjoy an evening of over-the-top fantasy scenes – from a sexy Paris boudoir, to a sweltering arid desert, to a wilder-than-wild West, to the peak of bad-girl biker chic.
Only the animals will be wearing less than the models on the runway.
"When Ashley Graham sauntered out of the house in last year's Cacique commercial wearing only red lingerie and a trench coat, she slammed the door on the long-held societal perception that size can't be sexy. Curves not only can be sexy – they ARE sexy," said Jay Dunn, Vice President of Marketing, Lane Bryant. "Our Red Bra ad campaign was never about creating controversy – it was about proving a point: more than half of American women are plus size and they have every right and reason to proudly show off their assets and feel beautiful and confident. This fashion show is a 'coming out party', a celebration of fashion and fearlessness – not only for the Lane Bryant and Cacique brands, but for the millions of women who have joined the groundswell of support to rewrite the rules and throw the world a curve."
The Lane Bryant / Cacique fashion show, being held on Sunday, February 20th from 8:00pm – 9:30pm at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, is the capstone event of the First Annual Curvy Revolution Plus Size Convention, an interactive event experience created to celebrate, inform, and inspire by bringing together plus size women of many different backgrounds for an empowerment packed weekend of workshops, keynote speakers, and charity events.
The show will be followed by the "Stilettos and Curves" after-party held at the London Club sponsored by Lane Bryant.
