Landrieu, Snowe Offer Resolution Honoring National Small Business Week
WASHINGTON, May 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Olympia J. Snowe, Ranking Member, today offered a resolution honoring National Small Business Week.
"It is very important for us to honor the nation's small businesses," Senator Landrieu said. "These are the innovators and job creators in America. As we continue on this road to economic recovery, it is the small businesses that we will lean on to jumpstart the economy and put Americans back to work. I am excited to celebrate this week with them, and will continue to push for a legislative package for small businesses that frees up credit and encourages small firms to hire new workers. I am committed to working with Senator Snowe to stand behind small businesses, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to support this package."
"As our nation's job generators – responsible for nearly two-thirds of all net new jobs – it is critical that we recognize the role small businesses play in our economic vitality," Senator Snowe said. "National Small Business Week affords us the opportunity to shine a spotlight on America's hard-working and dedicated small business owners and entrepreneurs, and to promote their success stories. Chair Landrieu and I have worked in a collaborative, bipartisan manner to assist our nation's small businesses, and I look forward to our continued efforts to expand their access to capital, bolster their exporting opportunities, and reduce the regulatory and tax burden they face."
