LANDesk Acquires Wavelink to Redefine Mobility Management
Together, LANDesk and Wavelink provide the industry's first true end-to-end mobility management solution across the broadest range of platforms and devices
SALT LAKE CITY, June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LANDesk Software, a global leader in systems lifecycle management, endpoint security and IT service management, today announced it has acquired Wavelink, a leading provider of mission critical mobility management solutions. The acquisition of Wavelink will further strengthen LANDesk management solutions and enable the company to provide true end-to-end mobile management. LANDesk will maintain the Wavelink brand and product lines. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
By 2013, more than a third of the world's workforce will consist of mobile workers, potentially 1.2 billion people[1]. As end users continue to bring their own mobile devices into the workplace, managing and securing these devices to maximize user productivity has become a critical concern for IT professionals. Similarly, growth in the use of line-of-business (ruggedized) mobile devices and the business critical nature of these devices is pushing organizations to find new ways to ensure consistent and continuous availability. IT departments are now responsible for managing and securing the full range of the mobile enterprise. The acquisition of Wavelink strategically positions LANDesk to provide IT administrators with the true end-to-end enterprise mobility management they need in today's complex mobile computing environment.
For more than a decade, Wavelink has been an innovator in mission-critical device management, wireless infrastructure management, terminal emulation, voice enabling, and mobile application development software. More than 15,000 companies with over seven million devices across a broad spectrum of vertical markets rely on Wavelink to accelerate application delivery, reduce device management and support costs, and tighten network security.
"I am excited about the vast expertise and understanding of the mobile market that the talented employees, customers and partners of Wavelink will bring to LANDesk Software," said Steve Daly, CEO, LANDesk Software. "Together, we will redefine mobility management and provide the market with unrivaled end-to-end mobile management solutions. From the boardroom to the back office, we will enable mobility for people with a job to do."
This acquisition is the second for LANDesk in 2012 and further strengthens LANDesk's position as a market leader in IT end-user management. Both LANDesk and Wavelink customers and partners will benefit from the acquisition, which will allow extended reach across all mobile devices – from smartphones to line-of-business mobile devices, as well as complete mobile application management solutions. LANDesk and Wavelink will continue to deliver highly differentiated solutions based on unique business needs across vertical markets and individual customer requirements.
