Land O'Frost Selects Takata's SafeTraK 3 System to Increase Transportation Safety
Leading Lunchmeat Provider, Land O'Frost, Improves Driver Safety with High-Tech Vision
PONTIAC, Mich., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- TK Holdings Inc, North American subsidiary of Takata Corporation, announced today it has been chosen by Land O'Frost as their exclusive supplier of "Forward Looking Vision Systems". Takata will be supplying Land O'Frost, the third largest provider of packaged sliced lunchmeat, with the state-of-the-art SafeTraK3 vision system. The SafeTraK3 vision system is equipped with advanced electronic safety features, including Lane Departure and Driver Alertness Warning systems. Both features can greatly reduce the possibility of accidents or fatalities, plus monitor driver performance.
"The SafeTraK system delivers unique safety features which provide our drivers additional tools to perform safely. Our drivers are among the safest in the transportation industry. Our focus in acquiring SafeTraK is to support our drivers in their efforts to perform safely and ultimately insure that everyone, including the motoring public, return home safely to their families. The wireless messaging system provides us timely interactive data," said David Cummings, Director of Transportation, Land O'Frost.
The Takata SafeTraK family of electronic vision products are designed to warn commercial truck drivers if they are driving erratically within a lane (may need rest), or unintentionally departing from their lane. These warnings improve driver alertness and help avoid potential accidents, which in turn reduce costs and make roadways safer.
"Land O'Frost is continuously researching ways to improve fleet safety, and with Takata's SafeTraK3 vision system, they selected a tremendous tool for continuously improving driver performance well into the future," said Dave Martin, national accounts manager, TK Holdings Inc. "The combined features of Driver Alertness and Lane Departure Warning are exclusive to the Takata SafeTraK system, and after reviewing competitive products, Land O'Frost decided to update their entire fleet with the SafeTraK3 product."
The SafeTraK systems have just recently become available to the commercial trucking industry. Its exclusive product features make it highly desirable for companies who recognize the importance of transportation efficiency and safety.
"Our proprietary algorithms ensure warnings are provided only when necessary," said John Hancock, Product Manager, TK Holdings Inc. "In the development of SafeTraK, we concentrated not only on when to provide warnings, but also when not to. Our world class algorithms avoid the nuisance warnings that can reduce the effectiveness of competitive systems."
