Lancope® to Present on the "Network as a Security Sensor" at Cisco Live 2015
Presentations will demonstrate how to leverage network infrastructure for advanced cybersecurity enforcement and incident response
SAN DIEGO, June 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at Cisco Live, Cisco's annual IT and communications conference, Lancope, Inc., a leader in network visibility and security intelligence, will demonstrate how organizations can leverage their network as a security sensor and policy enforcer to detect and mitigate advanced threats and improve incident response times. Lancope will also present additional security sessions this week, as well as showcase its solutions for next-generation cyber threat defense at Cisco Live Booth #1601.
Today's network is increasingly dynamic, managing a constantly evolving infrastructure including cloud, software-defined networking (SDN), mobility and the Internet of Things. By harnessing the network as a security sensor, organizations can leverage the power of this dynamic network to monitor, detect, analyze and respond to stealthy cyber-attacks faster and with greater precision.
Today at 1:00 p.m. PT, Lancope Technical Engineer Matt Robertson will join Cisco to present a better way for fending off advanced external attacks and insider threats in session BRKSEC-2026, "Network as a Sensor and Enforcer." The presenters will explain how to use Lancope's StealthWatch® System along with the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to obtain greater insight into who and what is on the network. The session will also discuss how Cisco TrustSec can be used to dynamically segment network infrastructure to better protect critical assets.
Gavin Reid, Lancope's vice president of threat intelligence, will also co-present with Cisco on Wednesday, June 10 at 9:15 a.m. PT in session PCSZEN-1003, "Network as a Sensor: Using NetFlow for Incident Response." Attendees will learn how to obtain network visibility across their entire environment – access, distribution, core and edge – to conduct faster root cause analysis and more effective forensic investigations.
"Today's rapidly evolving infrastructure and increasingly sophisticated attackers call for a new security paradigm," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "By leveraging the network as a sensor, organizations can flip the traditional paradigm on its head, harnessing the power of the network to secure all aspects of an organization, rather than viewing the network simply as something that must be secured. Lancope is excited to present alongside Cisco to educate Cisco Live attendees on innovative ways to use existing network capabilities and properties to achieve a better overall IT security posture."
Additional Lancope Sessions at Cisco Live
On Wednesday, June 10 at 8:00 a.m. PT, Lancope's Matt Robertson will present session BRKSEC-2073, "NetFlow Security Monitoring with Cisco Threat Defense (CTD)." The session will take an in-depth look at NetFlow for obtaining heightened security intelligence to more quickly identify attackers and accelerate incident response. Robertson will demonstrate how to leverage the Lancope StealthWatch System and Cisco ISE to collect and analyze network telemetry and user data for identifying and investigating attackers on the network interior.
Additionally, Lancope's StealthWatch System will be featured in the following sessions:
- Monday, June 8, 1:00 p.m. PT – LTRSEC-3336 - Network Forensics & Threat Awareness: My network COULD BE compromised, what can I do? (Hands-on Lab)
- Tuesday, June 9, 3:30 p.m. PT – BRKCRS-1449 - Threat Defense for Enterprise Networks with Unified Access
- Wednesday, June 10, 8:00 a.m. PT – LTRCRS-2006 - Intelligent Enterprise Segmentation and Monitoring (Hands-on Lab)
Lancope's StealthWatch System for Advanced Cyber Threat Defense
Lancope collects network telemetry from Cisco infrastructure and conducts sophisticated security analytics to extend network visibility and context for large enterprises. Lancope's StealthWatch System can detect lateral movement associated with cyber-attacks inside the network, and delivers identity, device and application details to further increase situational awareness. The StealthWatch System makes up a key component of the Cisco Cyber Threat Defense (CTD) Solution.
With the recently announced Lancope PacketWatch™ solution, Lancope continues to expand its offerings for pervasive network insight and increased security control. PacketWatch enables organizations to conduct intelligent packet capture for select areas of the network where they suspect there is an issue – providing more granular network visibility for accelerated incident response and forensics at a fraction of the cost of full packet capture.
Those interested in learning more about Lancope solutions for advanced threat defense should attend the above sessions or stop by Lancope Booth #1601 at Cisco Live. Further details on Lancope and Cisco integrations can also be found here.
