Lance worked with Burns, a mom of five boys ages 6 – 16, as well as teachers and educators to put together helpful tips for parents looking to make homework less work, including:
- Guidance on how much homework to expect.
- Creating a workstation for getting homework done, complete with a homework "kit" for each child.
- Setting household-wide homework rules for parents and kids.
- Creating consistency with your after-school routine, including a good snack to make concentrating on homework easier.
- Setting a good example for children by getting your "homework" done, too!
The campaign also includes tips on streamlining the after-school routine and motivating kids to learn all year round.
"I know in my home, it makes all the difference when we have a routine in place to make sure papers get signed, homework gets done, and lunches get packed for the next day," says Burns. "And of course, with five hungry boys, I always have a good snack, like Lance Sandwich Crackers, ready for them when they walk in the door."
The "After-School Crunchtime Tips" campaign, which is hosted on the Lance Snacks Facebook page, runs from mid-August through October. In addition to having access to Lance's "After-School Crunchtime Tips," fans of the page will be asked to share their own tips for back-to-school time. Visitors to the page can also enter for their chance to win one of five $500 Visa gift cards, or one of 25 homework caddies filled with back-to-school homework supplies and Lance Sandwich Crackers.
The campaign will be advertised on TLC and the Food Network, as well as through Facebook ads, rich media banners on the Cafe Mom network and pre-roll advertising on the Yahoo.com ad network. This is the second time in 2011 that Lance has partnered with Burns to reach moms. This past spring Burns shared "Springtime Fun Tips," which included tips on getting outside and enjoying spur-of-the-moment family fun, in a multimedia campaign.
