Lanark Rugby Club Secure Kwik-Fit Insurance Funding
Double Success for Local Rugby Club
GLASGOW, Scotland, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- It was a double celebration this week for newly crowned Scottish West Regional Division Three champions, Lanark Rugby Club, as they secured sponsorship from Uddingston based Kwik-Fit Insurance for next season.
The funding from the local car insurance intermediary is a much-needed boost for the club, which came close to financial ruin only a matter of months ago. The harsh winter conditions at the end of last year brought flood damage to the clubhouse as well as a series of cancelled games, meaning the club struggled to generate the income required to stay afloat.
Sponsorship from Kwik-Fit Insurance, will allow for the completion of repairs to the clubhouse as well as the provision for new strips for the 2011-2012 season. Furthermore, money will be set aside to finance Scottish Rugby Union affiliated coaching courses as the club seek to improve their performance and offer local children the chance to get involved in the game.
Lanark's Vice Captain, Graeme McNicol (29) from Carluke, works as a PR and Events Executive at cheap car insurance specialists Kwik-Fit Insurance, and was behind the club's application for sponsorship to his employers. Graeme said: "Everyone at the club is delighted to have secured this much needed sponsorship from Kwik-Fit Insurance. Every year the company sponsor a different local team as part of their commitment to supporting the community. After the difficult winter we had and the impact it had on the club, I decided to see if they would sponsor us. I'm really happy that we were selected and we can now push on with the repairs to our clubhouse."
Lanark President, Willie Gardner, was also delighted to hear about the new injection of cash. "This is a welcome boost for the club. We are still on a high after our results in the league this year and now, thanks to Kwik-Fit Insurance, we can build on this success and work to place our club at the heart of the Lanark community. This is an exciting time for everyone at Lanark Rugby Club, and our partnership with Kwik-Fit Insurance is an important part of this."
June Lynch, Managing Director of Kwik-Fit Insurance said: "We are all very happy to announce the sponsorship of Lanark Rugby Club as our sports team of the year for next season. We have always strived to help local sports teams within our community from football teams, to hockey teams and now rugby. The club have had a very successful year despite the unfortunate problems in the winter period and hopefully their winning ways will continue next season to another championship success. It's also great to see the club are keen to attract local youngsters to the sport."
Lanark won the Division Three championship after securing a 63 –17 win against Mid Argyll, crowning off the most successful season in the club's 86 year history as they finished top of the table for the first time.
