Lakewood Resident Becomes Chair-Elect of Public Relations Society of America
LAKEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Long-time Lakewood resident is the new chair-elect of the Public Relations Society of America.
Jane Dvorak, APR, Fellow PRSA, president of JKD & Company of Lakewood, was elected Saturday to be PRSA's chair-elect in 2016, placing her in line to become chair of PRSA in 2017.
With more than 22,000 members, PRSA is the world's largest and foremost organization of public relations professionals.
Dvorak was elected on Saturday, Nov. 7 on the eve of PRSA's annual International Conference. She currently is PRSA's national treasurer and served as a PRSA national director from 2012 to 2014. Her term as chair-elect begins January 1, 2016, and will continue through 2017 when she becomes chair.
"It is an exciting time for the PR profession as we are in the middle of a new era in how we help our organizations and clients tell their stories clearly, honestly and effectively," Dvorak said. Dvorak graduated from Colorado State University in 1983 with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations and has been active in Colorado's public relations community since then.
She started Lakewood-based JKD & Company in 1989 and has won numerous awards for her work, including several Gold and Silver Pick awards (the highest awards from PRSA's Colorado chapter) and a Silver Anvil award, PRSA's highest national award for professional work. She received PRSA Colorado's Swede Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
Dvorak is an accredited member (APR) of PRSA and a PRSA Fellow, a professional rank attained by fewer than three percent of the organization's members. She is a former president of PRSA's Colorado chapter and has held numerous PRSA leadership positions in Colorado, the organization's five-state Western District and nationally.
Dvorak's clients have included large and small companies and nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado. Current clients include Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric of Lakewood, Rocky Mountain Agribusiness Association and eThos Electric Car Share, Inc. of Golden. She volunteers for CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin counties, which provides court appointed special advocates for abused and neglected children.
