Lakeside Community Healthcare Offers Free Medicare Information Sessions Throughout Open Enrollment Period

NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lakeside Community Healthcare is working to make health education resources more accessible by offering free Medicare information sessions in 8 cities throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The medical group has partnered with Applied General Agency (AGA) to provide a series of classes that review the advantages of enrolling in Medicare and how to best navigate the Medicare Open Enrollment Period.

"Get the Most Out of Your Medicare" information sessions are open to both Lakeside members and non-members. Classes will be held during the months of October through December at various Lakeside clinic locations and local restaurants. Attendees can speak with certified benefits specialists from AGA, who will answer questions and give individuals the opportunity to set up free one-on-one benefits reviews. Lakeside doctors will also be present at a number of meetings to introduce themselves and answer health-related questions.

"Attending a Medicare information session is imperative this year, as there are a host of new benefits that health plans will be offering in 2019," explained Mindy Morgen, Senior Director of Marketing and Health Education at Lakeside Community Healthcare. "We know how important it is for our members to have access to the right physicians, network, and health plan, and to make an informed decision based on their personal healthcare needs."

Owner and president of AGA, Patrick Rodriguez, echoes the value and urgency of receiving a benefits review during Medicare Open Enrollment Period. "Both the senior population and health plans have an approximate 7 week period to make changes to their Medicare benefits. While health plans increase or decrease their benefits, networks, and overall costs, it is my belief that the senior population should not be captive to lesser benefits. This is the time to review and select the plan that works best for the individual."  Some of the benefits Medicare Advantage enrollees can anticipate in 2019 might include meal delivery after hospital stays, transportation to providers, in-home care, cost-free prescriptions, and free gym memberships.
