LADY LAKE, Fla., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) has approved the Medical Office Management Technical Certificate Program, part of the Associate in Science (AS) in Health Information Technology Degree Program, offered by Lake Sumter State College to be included in the Academic Credentialing Program (ACP). The ACP requires a minimum of seven (7) of the Nine Domains of Medical Practice Administration be taught by the educational institution as part of their medical management program. Approved programs gain valuable benefits including certification eligibility, membership, discounts on industry resource materials, and access to professional networking.
Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) was established in 1962 and offers a high-quality education at an affordable price to the communities of Lake and Sumter counties. Since then, they have grown into a three-campus institution serving over 6500 students annually. This Medical Office Management Technical Certificate Program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary, or supplemental training, for employment in support of effective medical business operation. The ACP Host Course within the program is Internship in Health Information & Medical Offices, providing a combination of CMM-A Exam Preparation and onsite internship hours. Students receiving the Medical Office Management Technical Certificate are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Manager – Academic (CMM-A) through PAHCOM.
The PAHCOM Academic Credentialing Program (ACP) is modeled after historically successful programs in the accounting, legal, and medical professions wherein specific educational curricula are mastered and the student is then able to add specific professional recognition to the academic recognition received from the educational institution.
The Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) was established in January 1988 to provide a support network to the managers of small group and solo provider healthcare practices. The role of the medical manager is a vital element in efficient and profitable practice management.
