Laid Off After 20 Years, Pottstown, PA Native Chooses Career as Professional Massage Therapist for a Brand New Start

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- After working as an administrative assistant for 20 years, Pottstown, PA.-native Christine Camasso found herself at loose ends after she was laid off.

"My last position as an administrative assistant was at a company which I absolutely loved and thought that I would retire from someday.  After I was laid off, I worked for a few temp agencies but none of the positions ever became permanent," says Camasso.  "I knew I had to make a career change that I wanted to be fun as well as rewarding.  It did not take long before I knew that becoming a professional massage therapist would be the perfect career for me."  

Camasso, 42, enrolled in Cortiva Institute - Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy's six month- day program.  She graduated last April with a certificate as a Massage Therapist.  Though not mandatory in the state of Pennsylvania, Camasso plans on taking the National Exam shortly in order to become licensed.

Currently employed at the Verde Salon and Day Spa in Parker Ford, Pennsylvania, Camasso is thrilled with her career decision.  "Our salon received 'Best Massage Therapy Award in 2009' in the Philadelphia area from Philadelphia Magazine," said Camasso who was hired only days after graduating from Cortiva.    

As for her plans for the future, Camasso said she hopes to continue in her career as a professional massage therapist and to enroll in "continuing education courses to stay abreast in the massage therapy field.  Now I actually look forward to going to work every day!   I know that I made the right decision in choosing to become a massage therapist," she adds.
