LADERA RANCH, Calif., Aug. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladera Sports Center will host its inaugural 3-on-3 basketball charity tournament this Saturday, August 12. All proceeds of the tournament will go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
"We are very excited to host our first charity 3-on-3 basketball tournament, and to have it benefit such a worthy charitable organization like the American Cancer Society Relay for Life," said Kristi Nemeth, facilities manager with Ladera Sports Center and coordinator of the tournament. "We are proud to team up with athletes to join the fight against cancer."
Proceeds from the tournament benefit Relay for Life by helping to provide proper nutrition for cancer patients, transportation to appointments and funds for caregivers who have stopped working in order to provide support for a loved one.
The tournament will have four divisions: recreation, competitive, elite and coed. The cost to register is $35 per athlete and up to five players may compete for one team. Each team will play a minimum of four games. The event will also include a three-point, dunk, skills and team competition contest. Each athlete from the winning teams will receive a $100 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods.
Registration for the event closes on Wednesday, August 9. Schedules will be available on Friday, August 11.

Since its opening in 2016, Ladera Sports Center has become an increasingly popular venue for a wide range of athletic competitions, camps and classes, open gym and private training for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, dance, pickleball and more. The sports center is also home to the San Clemente Volleyball Club, an award-winning club for boys and girls ages 10 to 18; Prime Volleyball Club, the host of club teams, camps and clinics for boys and girls of all ages whose staff includes three coaches with USA Olympic Team coaching experience; and Team Nikos, a youth AAU club program with 16 teams ranging from 2nd to 12th grades.
