LADERA RANCH, Calif., Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladera Sports Center announced today that the first series of its Shots Up Training Program, led by award-winning California Interscholastic Federation certified coach Jon Bahnsen, will begin September 18.
"We couldn't be more excited to offer this program with Coach Bahnsen, who has two decades of experience mentoring student athletes as a certified coach and well-respected leader," said Steve Williams, chief executive officer of Ladera Sports Center. "Shots Up will help athletes bring their game to an elite level by bettering their shooting techniques through hard work, dedication and practice. Each athlete will receive individual coaching and monitoring to track their progress."
Coach Bahnsen previously spent 21 years with Brethren Christian High School, where he served as head varsity coach for 19 years. An award-winning coach, he was named League Coach of the Year four times, and earned five consecutive league titles from 2009 – 2013, with nine total league titles during his career. Coach Bahnsen's overall record includes 333 wins and 168 losses, with his teams ranking in the CIF Top 10 for 11 consecutive years. He also led two athletes to become scoring leaders in Orange County, California, during his career. Coach Bahnsen is a member of the CIF Basketball Advisory Board, and is past president of the Southern California Coaches Association, where he currently serves as membership chairperson. He played collegiate basketball at Orange Coast College and San Diego Christian College. As a high school player, Coach Bahnsen was named First Team All CIF and League Player of the Year during his senior year, averaging 25.1 points per game, with an 81 percent free throw percentage and a 44 percent three-point percentage.
"I believe that the key components for the success of any basketball athlete are hard work, character development and a strong basketball IQ," said Coach Bahnsen. "I am looking forward to helping these athletes grow by teaching the fundamental shooting technique of 'lock, load, look and lift' – guaranteed to improve a shooting percentage."
Utilizing Dr. Dish shooting machines, Shots Up will teach athletes proper shooting technique and mechanics, coupled with on-the-spot corrections utilizing tablet technology. Athletes and parents participating in the Shots Up training program also will receive weekly emails with the planned workout. Classes are available on Mondays and Wednesdays; children must be in third grade or higher to participate.
The cost is $175 for the first 20 students enrolled, and $199 for all other participants.
