Lacework Names Dan Hubbard Chief Security Architect
Leading Innovator in Internet Security to Oversee Implementation of Company's Technical Strategy
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Lacework™, the industry's first solution to bring automation, speed and scale to cloud security, today announced the appointment of Dan Hubbard to the role of Chief Security Architect. Hubbard has been an innovator in internet security for more than 20 years, with expertise spanning all areas of security from reputation systems to large scale data mining of the internet and advanced classification systems. As Chief Security Architect, Hubbard is responsible for overseeing the security solution strategy on top of the Lacework cloud security platform.
"Securing cloud infrastructure is of utmost performance to security executives, operators and responders. With the unprecedented growth and adoption of the cloud expanding at an exponential rate, security is having difficulties keeping up with the pace of disruption," said Hubbard. "The market necessity, and a lack of effective security solutions is what attracted me to Lacework. Once I had the opportunity to meet the team, and spend time under the hood of the platform, I knew I had to be a part of this pioneering company's future. I'm looking forward to helping develop the cloud security solutions that will enable enterprises to better anticipate and protect against today's most prevalent threats."
Before joining Lacework, Hubbard was the CTO of OpenDNS, one of the early cloud-native security solutions. After the company was acquired by Cisco, Hubbard stayed on board to serve as Director of Engineering. At OpenDNS he expanded the company's breadth and depth of knowledge of security and products, assisted in delivering disruptive new technologies and drove innovation company-wide. Prior to OpenDNS, he was the CTO at Websense, where he was responsible for research and development of existing and new technologies, investigating technology trends and driving innovation globally across the company. He also conceived, built and managed the Websense Security Labs.
"Dan and I have worked together at OpenDNS. He comes to Lacework with more than twenty years of industry experience and a deep understanding of disruptive technology and innovation, which will help us take Lacework to the next level," said Stefan Dyckerhoff, Lacework CEO. "At Lacework, we're creating a platform which drives unparalleled value for organizations adopting a secure cloud, and with Dan on board, we couldn't have a stronger asset available to support us in the next stage of our growth."
According to Forrester Research, global cloud services revenues totaled $114 billion in 2016, up from $68 billion just two years ago. The firm expects the public cloud services market reaching $236 billion by 2020. Lacework is building a platform that delivers security capabilities specifically designed for the cloud, including speed, scale and automation, while allowing customers to leverage some of the security tools that they are familiar with and still relevant in the cloud.
