LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- La Ventana Treatment Programs is excited to announce its recent collaboration with Project HEAL as a valued Treatment Center Grant Partner. It is through this partnership that La Ventana's innovative, state-of-the-art, evidence-based, holistic eating disorder treatment programs will be made available to those who would not otherwise have access to quality care.
Project HEAL is a leading non-profit that provides individuals facing financial hardship, whether due to lack of insurance coverage or other financial barriers, with access to eating disorder treatment. Through global fundraising efforts and partnerships with leading treatment providers nationwide, Project HEAL offers grant recipients a chance at lasting recovery by placing them in a treatment center that will treat to outcome. This means that La Ventana, which has facilities in Santa Monica, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, and Santa Barbara, will welcome clients in need and provide quality treatment until each individual is truly ready to step down to an outpatient level of care.
Eating disorder treatment, like many behavioral healthcare needs, remains largely inaccessible to many people throughout the United States. According to Project HEAL, only 10 percent of individuals with eating disorders ever receive professional treatment. In 2016 alone, Project HEAL selected 27 grant recipients and connected them with resources ranging from residential treatment programs to outpatient therapy sessions. The organization has an in-depth application process and places high value on an applicant's motivation to recover.
"This is a natural step for us to partner with Project HEAL, as La Ventana has always been actively involved in advocacy efforts for improved access to eating disorder treatment," shares Diahann Klein, MA, LMFT, CEO of La Ventana. "We are honored to bring hope and healing to those who would otherwise be unable to afford the care they so deeply need and deserve."
Both La Ventana and Project HEAL work closely with Lisa S. Kantor, Esq., a Los Angeles attorney specializing in cases in which clients have been denied health benefits from their insurance providers. Ms. Kantor sits on the Advisory Board for Project HEAL and works with the organization's Treatment Center Grant Partners to fight for fair insurance coverage for each grant recipient. Evelyn Attia, M.D., Cynthia Bulik, Ph.D., FAED, Walter Kaye, M.D., and Kenneth Willis, M.D., are among the leading eating disorder experts who sit on Project HEAL's Clinical Advisory Board.
