DALLAS, April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- La Madeleine French Bakery & Café kicks off its Recipes for Hope monthlong fundraising drive in partnership with Children's Hunger Fund May 1, with the hope of raising $350,000 to provide 1.4 million meals for children in need.
The Recipes for Hope campaign starts Monday, May 1, with A Meal for A Meal. For every guest who dines at la Madeleine that day, the restaurant will donate 25 cents – the equivalent of one meal – to Children's Hunger Fund.
Through May 31, the company will donate $1 to Children's Hunger Fund every time a guest purchases a jar of la Madeleine Tomato Basil Soupe, Jam or Caesar Dressing. Guests also can donate $5 and receive a Recipes for Hope limited edition card with exclusive offers on meals, bakery treats and beverages. Last year, the company sold more than 50,000 cards, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to provide meals to hungry children.
"Over the past five years, our generous guests have helped us provide 5 million meals through our ongoing partnership with Children's Hunger Fund," said la Madeleine President John Cahill. "By working together to deliver our Recipe for Hope, we are able to further the mission to put an end to childhood hunger one meal at a time, and we hope our guests will join us once again in our annual effort."
Every dollar raised provides four meals to hungry children in the U.S. and throughout the world. Since its founding in 1991, Children's Hunger Fund has distributed more than $1 billion in aid to children in need.
"Partnerships with companies like la Madeleine French Bakery & Café do more than raise money – they inspire the hope that together, we can solve the problem of childhood hunger," said Children's Hunger Fund Executive Director, Relationship Development Michael Richards. "With la Madeleine's ongoing support, we have been able to build a Dallas distribution center that provides a cost-efficient way to get food to families in need, and through campaigns like Recipes for Hope, purchase the food itself."
As part of their personal commitment to the Recipes for Hope campaign, Cahill and the la Madeleine corporate team will be at Children's Hunger Fund's Dallas distribution center on May 1 to fill "Food Paks" – boxes filled with about 20 pounds of staple foods designed to feed a family of four for about a week.
