Kylli, Inc. hires experienced Bay Area executive as its VP of Real Estate Development
Randi Gerson to lead entitlement of ambitious mixed-use project in Santa Clara
BURLINGAME, Calif., Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Kylli, Inc. has tapped Randi Gerson, an experienced real estate executive, to be its Vice President of Real Estate Development.
Gerson brings to Kylli well-rounded expertise in financial management, architecture design/construction management, land acquisition, entitlements and real estate transactions.
Gerson will lead the planning, development and entitlements for a major project proposed in Santa Clara. The project—currently called 3005 Democracy Way—is envisioned by Kylli as a large scale mixed-use urban neighborhood in an emerging part of the city near Levi's Stadium and Great America amusement park. A thorough community outreach program to hear from residents is already underway.
"I'm excited to be part of the Kylli team, and particularly this ambitious neighborhood project. We really believe in its thoughtful design. The significant amount of housing we're adding is going to positively transform this area. It's going to be such a vibrant destination for the Santa Clara community when it's complete," Gerson says.
Kylli is proposing 3.65 million square feet of office space, approximately 6,000 housing units, approximately eight acres of open space, 500,000 square feet of retail, a hotel, and facilities geared toward education and daycare uses. Affordable housing options will give teachers, nurses, firefighters and law enforcement officers the chance to live closer to where they work. The site will also have an environmentally conscious design and will include a network of paths to encourage walking and biking to cut down on vehicle traffic.
Before joining Kylli, Gerson worked for several major Bay Area real estate development companies including: FivePoint Communities, Lennar Urban, Forest City Development, and Mercy Housing CA.
With FivePoint Communities, Gerson served as its Senior Director of Development where she led all residential development for complex master plan communities. She was involved in key development activities, such as: site/asset sale, entitlements, underwriting, land planning, design, construction, financing, and building relationships with outside organizations.
"Randi is a real estate professional with deep insight into Bay Area development and a passion for building strong communities. She has a proven track record of working with local groups, and she values the important input they provide," said Ou Sun, CFO and Secretary of Kylli, Inc. "We are thrilled to have secured her talents and expertise."
Gerson has served on numerous boards and committees throughout the Bay Area, including OpenHouse, Inc. where she currently chairs its Building Committee. Previously, she was co-chair of the Board of Directors LGBT Community Center in San Francisco. She also received a Community Service Award from the Alice B. Toklas Democratic Club for outstanding leadership. She is also a new Bay Area Council board member.
Gerson holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Oregon. She earned her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a Licensed Architect by the State of California and is a LEED Certified Professional. In both 2016 and 2017, she was named by BizNow as a Power Woman, which honors and recognizes women thought leaders throughout the Bay Area in commercial real estate.
