Kyiv Contemporary Art Fair Gathered 200,000 Art-Lovers From all Over the World
KIEV, Ukraine, November 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Attracting nearly 200,000 visitors from all over the world, the Art-Kyiv Contemporary Art Fair is recognized as one of the biggest in Eastern Europe. The festival took place on November 9 - 14 and was hosted in the historical building of Art Arsenal, one of the largest exhibition areas in the world.

This year the Art-Kyiv Contemporary Art Fair featured a variety of collections presented by the contemporary art galleries from Berlin, Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine. The festival was also marked by a number of special projects performed by renowned world artists, such as Rochus Aust (Germany), the author of the visual shows and electronic poetry; German art duo Molitor & Kuzmin; the stars of street art - Zevs (France), Incubus Project and Spy (Russia), the leaders of the Ukrainian young art scene Zanna Kadyrova, Hamlet Zinkovskyi, Anatoly Belov, Vladimir Kuznetsov, Zinaida Likhachova, Nikita Kadan, and Group of Objects; street art activities Homer, Vova Vorotniov etc.
During the International Roundtable Discussion "Museum in the Contemporary Context", held at the festival's opening, the newest practical groundwork was introduced by the representatives of the world's leading museums, notably Dr. Valerie Hillings, Curator of Guggenheim Museum, New York; Dr. Peter Noever, Director of the Museum of Aplied Arts, Vienna; Dr. Gregor Jansen, Director of Kunsthalle Dusseldorf and many others.
An exclusive film about street art "Exit Through the Gift Shop", by the world famous British underground graffiti artist Banksy, was presented within the framework of the street-art and media-art project . Another guest of the festival, the legendary "sprayer from Zurich" Harald Naegeli, demonstrated jointly with the group Rochus Aust music performances during the opening of the festival.
Natalia Zabolotna, the General Director of Art Arsenal, stressed the importance of the Art-Kyiv Contemporary Art Fair for Ukraine, saying: "We need to promote our native art at the world cultural arena and with time to be at the top of it."
