kVA Offers Engineers a Chance to Become Safety Certified

TROY, Mich., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- kVA, an engineering and management consultancy group, has opened up online registration for their final IEC 61508 four-day training event in 2014. The event is scheduled to take place in Troy, MI at the Marriott Hotel, north of Detroit. Training will begin November 10th with an optional certification exam on the 14th. OEMs and suppliers working in the industrial sector are encouraged to attend.

All material provided throughout the duration of the workshop is developed by kVA's U.S. based functional safety certified engineers and their partner TUV-Nord, one of the world's largest technical service providers. The training provides a comprehensive and detailed view of the IEC 61508 standard, with several practical examples presented within the training sessions. Each attendee will receive a FMEDA-Workbench database tool for IEC 61508 calculations and a hard copy manual providing insight into its implications and requirements for functional safety in a wide variety of industrial applications. The framework of the lecture will be presented from a safety management perspective. Day one will cover the entire safety life-cycle, day two and three will address safety-oriented hardware and the technical concept development for safety-related systems, and day four will dive into software level implementation beyond the demands of existing software standards.
