Kuwaiti Prime Minister Calls for Cooperation and Dialogue
KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah stressed the importance of open discourse and dialogue at the onset of the National Assembly session. During his address yesterday of the Assembly's third ordinary session of the 13th legislative term, the Premier called for a collaborative approach to the new political season with hopes that discussion on crucial topics would lead to progress on pertinent governmental issues.
Sheikh Nasser noted, "constructive dialogue would contribute in establishing a progressive approach that reflects joint work within the constitution and without compromising any right or specialty." With a forward thinking perspective on the session he acknowledged "the government's determination to continue with its democratic approach in establishing a law-abiding institutional state." He also recognized that the current timeframe was an opportunity to recommit to respecting and reinforcing sovereignty.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opened the new Assembly term, calling on all parties to end political chaos and stop sectarian feuds. HH the Amir also focused on the importance of respecting the law and stressed that the government's interests should be the "ultimate goal" for all Kuwaitis. "Parliament, cabinet, institutions, and individuals should act wisely and stand as one against any attempts to disrupt the peace in the country," the Amir stated.
National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi addressed the audience as well, saying cooperation between the legislative and executive powers would act as the "cornerstone" of the new session. Hoping to make strides in education, health and infrastructure, Al-Kharafi noted, "We don't want to find ourselves at the end of the next decade at the same spot where we had started."
