Kutztown University Earns AACSB International Accreditation
TAMPA, Fla., May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AACSB International announced today that Kutztown University has earned accreditation for its College of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International (AACSB) is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting.
"AACSB congratulates Kutztown University and dean William Dempsey on earning accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "AACSB Accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. The entire KU team—including the administration, faculty, directors, staff, and students—are to be commended for their roles in earning accreditation."
AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 736 institutions across 48 countries and territories that have earned AACSB Accreditation in business. Similarly, 182 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programs.
Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB assigned mentor, and peer review. During the multi-year process the school focuses on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB's Accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
"It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB Accreditation, and I commend Kutztown University for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community," said Reid. "Through accreditation, KU has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students."
AACSB International also announced that EM Strasbourg Business School (France), King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), Purdue University Calumet (United States), Stevens Institute of Technology (United States), the University of New Haven (United States), the University of Windsor (Canada), Zhejiang University (China), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland) have earned accreditation in business.
