ST. LOUIS, Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kurtis B. Reeg is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. Excelling as a litigator representing product manufacturers, distributors and retailers worldwide, Mr. Reeg has served as the managing member and president of Reeg Lawyers LLC in St. Louis since 2004. Over the course of his 40 years of practice, Mr. Reeg has been a partner at several firms, including two national law firms where he also acted as chair of the product liability group and as a managing partner.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Reeg spent several years working with Gallop, Johnson & Neuman L.C. in St. Louis, Missouri, as a partner, co-chair of the litigation department, chair of the tort and insurance group, and also a managing partner. Beginning his career as a law clerk to the presiding justice of the Illinois Appellate Court for the Fifth District from 1979 to 1980, he then worked at Coburn, Croft & Putzell n/k/a Thompson Coburn, from 1980 until 1991, when he became a partner at the firm after only six years. Mr. Reeg finds the most gratifying aspect of his career to be trying and winning cases for his clients.
Inspired to a career as a civil defense lawyer by his grandfather (who at the time was the only lawyer in the family and worked in-house at a major corporation), Mr. Reeg pursued an education at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) in 1976. Following this accomplishment, he continued his academic efforts earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1979. Licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Nebraska, Mr. Reeg has also been admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second, Seventh and Eighth Circuits, as well as before several United States District Courts.
In addition to his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Reeg has also contributed his time to legal education. Active as an instructor of legal research and writing at Saint Louis University from 1979 to 1980, as well as being a faculty member at the FDCC Litigation Management College at Emory University, he is also a regular presenter in his field. Additionally, Mr. Reeg has contributed a number of articles to professional journals, including a 2013 law journal article, with some of his more recent works including "The Survivors' Club," "Can Biomarkers and Genetics Help Predict the Future of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma," "The Trump Administration's Dramatic Impact on the Toxic Tort and Environmental Landscapes" and "Emerging Risks for the Insurance Industry: What's Coming Next."
In order to remain abreast of developments in his fields, Mr. Reeg maintains affiliation with a number of professional organizations. A sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council since 2008, he also holds membership with the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Emerging and Environmental Claims Managers Association, The National Forum for Environmental and Toxic Tort Issues, and the Illinois State Bar Association, among others. Furthermore, Mr. Reeg currently serves as a policy adviser for legal affairs at The Heartland Institute.
Holding the title of Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyer since 2015, Mr. Reeg also has an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating with Martindale-Hubbell and was listed in the first ever Top-Rated Lawyers section for Mass Tort Lawyers in 2012. He was previously honored as an Unsung Hero in Business by the St. Louis Small Business Monthly in 2016.
