Kurt Salmon Volunteers for 78 Charitable Projects Around the World on Its Annual Day of Service
PARIS, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kurt Salmon, a global management consulting firm, today announced that its employees from around the globe volunteered both their expertise and manpower in support of 78 different charitable projects as part of this year's PowerDay, a company-wide initiative designed to promote social responsibility among its employees, alumni, clients and business partners.
First launched in 2008, PowerDay is an annual event for which Kurt Salmon gives its staff the opportunity to spend an entire day supporting a variety of community nonprofit projects.
"At Kurt Salmon, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work," CEO Chiheb Mahjoub said. "PowerDay exemplifies that belief."
"It is a tradition of which we are very proud," he added.
This year, the nonprofits at which Kurt Salmon employees volunteered fell into one of three categories. The first was parks and other green spaces and included everything from the Briarwood Park Conservancy in Atlanta to Friends of the Earth in Tokyo to BIOFarm in Shanghai. Helping children, families and the homeless was the second area of focus and saw volunteers at Petits Freres des Pauvres in France, Japan's Free the Children and various food banks across the United States, while more broad-based charities included both the British and French Red Cross, the United Kingdom's Pennies and Medecins Sans Frontieres. The third and final category focused on job skills, whereby staff in the New York office conducted mock interviews and offered coaching to skilled immigrants and refugees in order to secure them job opportunities with Upwardly Global.
"PowerDay 2014 was one of our best years yet, with a rich diversity in both projects and organizations," said Bernard Desprez, managing partner for Europe and Africa.
"We are already looking forward to PowerDay 2015."
