Kumho Tire USA Announces Hip-Hop Handles Promotion Winners
Pair of Primetime Ballers Selected for Once-In-A-Lifetime All-Expenses Paid Trips to NBA All-Star Weekend in L.A.
ATLANTA, Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kumho Tire USA., one of the world's leading tire manufacturers, announced the winners of its successful Hip-Hop Handles program. Matthew Hill from Nashville, Tenn. and Daniel O'Keefe from Portsmouth, N.H. were selected from an incredibly strong pool of video submissions to win an all-expense paid VIP trip to NBA All-Star 2018 in Los Angeles from February 16-18.
"Kumho Tire Hip-Hop Handles" invited basketball players around the country to demonstrate their ball-handling skills and creativity. Streetball legend Phillip "Hot Sauce" Champion got the Hip-Hop Handles program off to an exhilarating start with several electrifying displays of dribbling ability on kumhohandles.com. Fans and enthusiasts were then asked to submit their own 30-second video highlighting their abilities set to the sounds and style of hip-hop music. From there, videos were judged, and two winners were selected.
"As the official tire of the NBA, Kumho Tire wanted to combine the innovation and creativity we are synonymous with and apply it to NBA fans' ball-handling abilities," said Harry Choi, CEO, Kumho Tire USA. "We received a number of great submissions from fans all over the country, but in the end, Matthew and Daniel's videos stood out above the rest and we are beyond excited to send them both out to Los Angeles in style for NBA All-Star."
The Hip-Hop Handles program will conclude on Thursday, February 15, when Kumho Tire hosts the Kumho Tire Hip-Hop Handles Regional Challenge event. Held at Paramount High School in Paramount, Calif., one lucky Southern California ball-handling phenom will also be selected to win the same prize awarded to the national winners. Joining Kumho Tire executives to judge the final Challenge competition, where six finalists will showcase their ball-handling skills to a hip-hop soundtrack, will be former Laker John Salley.
Each of the three winners – two national and one in Southern California – will receive tickets to all activities during All-Star Weekend, including the Rising Stars event, the All-Star Celebrity Game, All-Star Saturday Night, which includes the skills challenge, three-point contest and slam dunk competition, G League International Challenge and the NBA All-Star Game itself. The three winners will showcase their handles as part of halftime festivities during the G League International Challenge.
