KUMA Games Announces Upcoming Release Of New "TV Gameisode"
ARE YOU READY TO BE A SCI-FI TV STAR?
NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- KUMA Games, the leaders in episodic gaming with nearly 200 releases, announced the October 30th release of their new game and next generation TV Gameisode platform, Space Epic Untitled.
Space Epic Untitled is a multiplayer space shooter, played with a TV (or PC), in conjunction with a mobile device. Groups of friends play in a couch co-op TV experience; each living room is a ship, battling other ships across the web, while each gamer uses their phone to control different stations on the ship.
Perhaps more significantly, Space Epic Untitled is re-imagining the TV/gaming experience by letting fans determine the story outcomes by their joint actions. The audience gets to write, play, and star in this new episodic Sci-FI adventure, using their phone's video cameras to enter into the game story, broadcasting themselves onto the main TV screen to the entire audience of players. Additionally, fans can write storylines on the game's wiki for inclusion in upcoming episodes this "season."
Space Epic Untitled will initially be released for AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, Steam, and Android TV, with mobile device "action stations" available for iOS and Android. Bridging the Android and Apple divide, gamers on all platforms can play together.
KUMA's new game is not only changing the way players and viewers experience TV, but their servers are getting an upgrade too. KUMA has been working with IBM since 2008, when they began using Akamai's peer-to-peer download client and CDN for their 3D episodic games like I,Predator and DogFights, giving KUMA the ability to accelerate download speeds and support its rapidly growing, global audience.
Now with the release of Space Epic Untitled, KUMA is leveraging IBM Cloud infrastructure. For KUMA, IBM Cloud enables the company to spin up servers almost instantly to meet anticipated audience demand, and to host this and other game titles anywhere in the world with IBM's global network of nearly 60 cloud data centers across 19 countries. The switch from fixed servers to the cloud is estimated to save KUMA up to 70 percent of their server costs.
"I am thrilled to leverage IBM Cloud for the release of Space Epic Untitled," says Keith Halper, KUMA's founder and CEO. "From an infrastructure perspective, this is our most ambitious game to date. IBM provides rock solid technology that we value and rely upon, especially when it comes to managing server load around a game launch. With IBM Cloud, we can easily scale, support global expansion and add additional TV Gameisode titles from our content partners."
Space Epic Untitled was Greenlit by the Steam community earlier this year and will be available for download on October 30, 2017.
