ATLANTA, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It has been just over a week since Hurricane Irma tore through Georgia and Florida, and life is returning to normal as Florida public schools resumed and all Krystal restaurant locations in the Southeast reopened. On Monday, Sept. 18th, the brand known for its iconic small, square burgers reopened its last location impacted by the storm in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
Many of the restaurants were previously closed due to mandatory evacuations ordered throughout much of Florida and south Georgia and a surge of power outages that affected a large portion of the southeast. These power outages have left many store shelves empty as people try to restock their refrigerators. The restaurants that remained open were actively serving First Responders free meals to keep them energized and ready for the long days ahead of revitalizing the states.
"Although the storm has passed, we know finding food is still a bit of a hassle as people try to rebuild and recuperate," said Joe Artime, Director of Brand Activation at The Krystal Company. "Trying to get our restaurants open as quickly as possible to give guests who need a fresh, hot meal has been our focus."
With over 350 restaurants located throughout 11 states in the Southeast Krystal has delighted guests throughout the area for more than 80 years with some of the best fast food deals on earth.
"The South is our home and we're proud to be able to serve our communities during the best - and worst - of times," said Artime. "We know there is a need for a return to normalcy and this is the first step in that direction. Guests, once again, can continue to look to us to satisfy their Krystal craving any time at values they can count on."
