ATLANTA, Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kristina Heuman is the recipient of the December, 2014 Chapter Champion Award from the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (www.prsageorgia.org) recognizing helped staff the Career Expo. Currently, she is Co-Chair of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee for the 2015 International PRSA conference that will be hosted by the Georgia Chapter. As part of this role, Heuman coordinated the development of a video promoting the Chapter and Atlanta as the 2015 conference location.
Heuman's motivation stems from her own professional development as a student. "I decided to become involved with the Georgia Chapter because it was a natural next step after my involvement in PRSSA during college," she said. "The connections I have made in this Chapter have turned into friends as well as professional colleagues, and it gives me great privilege to give back a small bit of what I have received from professionals that have invested in my own growth and development."
Heuman is Vice President in the Health and Social Impact practice at Porter Novelli, and a graduate of the University of Georgia.
Because of this type of volunteerism, the Georgia Chapter ranks as the second-largest chapter in the her dedicated volunteer work for the Chapter. Her service includes leadership on the Chapter's Board of Directors and chairing numerous committees, including Membership. In addition, she has advised students at the PRSA Real World Collegiate Conference, participated on panels, critiqued resumes and nation and has been recognized for its best membership practices among PRSA chapters across the country.
PRSA's Georgia Chapter (www.prsageorgia.org) consists of some 900 members throughout Georgia. Its mission is to enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities for its members.
The Chapter has monthly meetings, as well as eight Special Interest Groups (Corporate and Employee Communications, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit, Technology, Travel and Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times.
The Chapter supports 10 PRSSA (student society) groups at the following colleges: Berry College (Rome), Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta), Columbus State University (Columbus), Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville), Georgia State University (Atlanta), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro), Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw), Savannah State University (Savannah), University of Georgia (Athens), and University of West Georgia (Carrollton).
