WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kristin M. Lord began her tenure as IREX's fifth President and CEO last week. A dynamic and proven leader, Lord brings more than twenty years of experience in the fields of foreign policy, higher education, technology, and development.

Lord served most recently as Acting President of the United States Institute of Peace and previously as Executive Vice President and Director of Studies at the Center for New American Security. She was also a Fellow at the Brookings Institution, where she directed the science and technology initiative of the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World. Prior to that Lord held the positions of Associate Dean at the George Washington Elliot School of International Affairs, and a special advisor at the U.S. Department of State. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, she received a M.A. and Ph.D. from Georgetown University and a B.A. from American University.
