Kreyos Meteor Smartwatch Soars Past One Million Dollars On Indiegogo; Aiming For $1.5 Million By Mid-August
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Kreyos Meteor, one of the first smartwatches with two-way communication, voice and gesture control, has exceeded its original Indiegogo goal tenfold – soaring past one million dollars.
"Our features have hit a homerun with consumers," says Steve Tan, co-founder of Kreyos. "We are on track to ship in late November, with delivery before the Christmas holidays to those who are taking advantage of the special prices we are offering on Indiegogo until Monday. We are determined to meet that deadline so we can make this a happy holiday for our supporters."
Unlike first-generation smartwatches with only the ability to send one-way notifications, the Meteor allows users to communicate back and forth on their smartwatch with friends and family via voice, text, email and social media. In addition, users can manage phone calls, change music, call friends, post to social media, respond to texts and send emails using iPhone's Siri or Google Now voice control, and access applications on their smartphone. Designed to work with iPhone, Android and Windows 8 smartphones, the Meteor – which easily pops out of its watchband – can fit into other colorful, wearable-tech accessories. These include a lanyard and belt clip, made of highly durable, waterproof silicon that is flexible and fun.
"Users love the flexibility of the Meteor," says Tan. "Not everyone wants to wear a smartwatch on their wrist. With the Meteor, you also can attach to your belt, hang it on your bike, or wear it around your neck. Whatever works best for you."
The Meteor, which is waterproof, features a microphone, speaker and built-in gesture control. With its six-axis accelerometer and gyrometer, controlling the Meteor is as easy as moving a hand – up and down, left and right. Users can change music, answer a call or check an alert, among other activities, with a simple movement. Developers have the freedom to build additional gestures into applications using Kreyos SDK.
The Meteor has full activity tracking – enabling users to track goals and share progress with their social network. Designed to connect to any ANT+ or Bluetooth-enabled sensors, including heart rate and cycling speed/cadence sensors, the Meteor is ideal for anyone looking to get in shape or improve sports performance.
