Kretschmar Extends Alliance with Make-A-Wish®
Contributing $105,000, Helping to Grant Three Individual Wishes
LISLE, Ill., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third-consecutive year, Kretschmar Premium Deli Meats and Cheeses will assist Make-A-Wish in bringing smiles to children's faces. Kretschmar, part of the John Morrell Food Group, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, announced today that it will extend its relationship with Make-A-Wish through 2015. It is contributing $105,000 to the non-profit organization and will sponsor three individual wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions in the upcoming calendar year. Since beginning its relationship with Make-A-Wish in 2013, Kretschmar has donated $105,000 annually, bringing the total to $315,000. Along with its retail partners, Kretschmar has raised additional funding through sales of Make-A-Wish paper stars sold at stores' registers for $1 donations, employee donations and sandwich fundraisers. Those efforts raised over $50,000, which was given to local Make-A-Wish chapters to grant more wishes.
"Our association with Make-A-Wish has been extremely rewarding and we are very proud to continue working with them in 2015," said Mike Sargent, brand manager, Kretschmar Deli. "It's an honor to work with such a noble organization. Kretschmar's consumers and retail partners have shown exceptional support for the promotions we've hosted throughout the past two years. They've allowed us to make the wishes we've helped to grant legendary. We're excited about next year and look forward to helping make more wishes come true."
This year, Kretschmar helped grant three wishes throughout the country. In St. Louis, Kretschmar teamed up with Make-A-Wish Missouri and Shop 'n Save® to grant a six-year-old boy's wish to throw out the first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Along with Make-A-Wish Minnesota, Kretschmar partnered with Coborn's to give an eight-year-old a tree house inspired by the movie "The Sandlot." Patrick Renna, who played "Ham" in the movie, was on hand for the tree house dedication.
Kretschmar's super-premium line of deli meats, Kretschmar Master's Cut®, also sponsored a wish through Make-A-Wish Illinois, fulfilling a suburban Chicago boy's wish to make pizza in Italy. Kretschmar Master's Cut held a send-off party for him prior to his voyage, where the brand's Certified Master Chef® Brian Beland gave him a personal cooking demonstration.
"We are very grateful to have sponsors like Kretschmar Deli who are so dedicated and committed to our mission," said David Williams, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. "The team at Kretschmar truly understands the impact a wish has on a wish child, their family and on the entire community. The work they do to involve their retail partners and host fundraisers in support of our local chapters is a testament to their passion for helping make more wishes come true."
