KPMG's Portland Office Celebrates 100 Year Anniversary, Turns $1,200 Into 1,200 Months

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1912, J.P. Cash saw opportunity. He recognized a growing Portland and recognized that the growing business community would need accounting services. But he needed money to get started.

Cash did get his funding, a $1,200 advance from the New York office of Marwick, Mitchell, Peat and Co. (as in co-partners) at the time and opened the firm's local office in The Spalding Building on January 15, 1912.  

The Portland office of KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, traces its roots to J.P. Cash and, on its 100 year anniversary, celebrates his vision and the efforts of all others who have been instrumental in guiding the office through the years.
