KPMG Webcast To Focus On State And Local Tax Challenges Of Doing Business In The Cloud
June 28 Event is Second in KPMG's Series on "Tax in the Cloud"
NEW YORK, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will host a timely webcast focused on state and local tax implications of doing business in the cloud, the second in its series of TaxWatch webcasts designed to help companies better understand the potential tax risks and opportunities of doing business in the cloud.
The webcast, which is scheduled for June 28, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. ET, will highlight several key state tax considerations for companies developing business models in the cloud, ranging from the tax treatment and sourcing of services to the incentives available for data center investment to what tax professionals can do now to prepare for the future.
"As companies move more of their operations to the cloud, states are looking to protect their respective tax bases and may view cloud transactions as a new source of tax revenue," says Steven Fortier, principal-in-charge of KPMG's U.S. Tax in the Cloud initiative. "But companies face a host of challenges in determining the tax treatment of transactions that occur in the cloud, because most state tax authorities have yet to develop specific rules and policies in response to the growth of cloud computing."
KPMG partners and professionals who will share their insights on the call include:
- Harley Duncan, Tax Managing Director, State and Local Tax, Washington National Tax
- Jennifer Petersen, Partner, State and Local Tax
- Christine Bustamante, Tax Managing Director, Global Relocation and Expansion Services
- Grady Cunningham, Partner, State and Local Tax – Telecommunications
Tax, finance, information technology and other business professionals interested in attending the webcast panel discussion can register here. The webcast series is part of KPMG's TaxWatch events designed to keep tax professionals updated on recent industry developments and trends.
