NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As tax reform legislative waters swirl, KPMG will examine the recently released Senate GOP tax reform bill during a live audio webcast, titled "And Now the Senate Bill—How is it Different from the House Bill and What are the Implications for Tax Reform," on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. (EST).
Professionals from KPMG's Washington National Tax Practice (WNT) will share insights on specific proposals within the Senate bill. Tax, financial, and other business professionals interested in attending the 75-minute discussion can register here.
"The road ahead toward achieving comprehensive tax reform is expected to be a challenging one, and reconciling differences between the House and Senate bills will likely not be easy," said John Gimigliano, principal-in-charge of KPMG's Federal Tax Legislative & Regulatory Services, who will moderate the webcast.
Gimigliano will be joined by:
- James Atkinson, principal, income tax and accounting group, WNT;
- Manal Corwin, national leader of the International Tax practice at KPMG (U.S.) and principal-in-charge of international tax policy in the WNT practice;
- Ron Dabrowski, principal and technical deputy to the principal-in-charge of WNT, and
- Eric Lucas, principal-in-charge, income tax and accounting group, WNT.
Among the discussion topics will be:
- Considerations when evaluating the bill's proposals and their business impact;
- Similarities and differences with the current draft of the House bill;
- Specific provisions affecting accounting methods, capitalization, and international taxation.
The KPMG TaxWatch webcast is part of the firm's Tax Reform Thursdays webcast series. An earlier webcast on Nov. 9 examined proposals within the House GOP tax bill.
Gimigliano said that companies will need to pay very close attention to each stage of the legislative process in the coming weeks. KPMG is currently updating its tax reform modeling tools to reflect the latest legislation initiatives, with an eye toward having them soon available to assist clients with tax reform scenario analyses.
