KPMG Webcast To Address Audit Committee Oversight Of Tax Risk
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Audit Committee Institute (ACI) at KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will co-host a webcast with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) to provide a "board's eye view" of today's global tax environment and offer insights to help audit committees strengthen their oversight of tax as a key financial reporting, compliance and reputational risk.
The webcast, scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET, will provide an overview of the dialogue audit committees should have with tax directors to better understand companies' tax risk profiles and how risks are managed. Panelists will address several corporate governance issues including recent changes to financial reporting and disclosure and important legislative and regulatory developments.
"In today's challenging business and regulatory environment, tax strategies and risks have to be a consideration for any effective audit committee," says Tom Duffy, National Managing Partner for Audit at KPMG. "And that requires regular interaction with the tax director and robust discussion of the company's tax profile."
Joining Duffy on the webcast to provide their insights and perspectives will be Eugene DeMark and Vernon Turner. Mr. DeMark a director at BankUnited, Inc. and 1-800-Flowers.com, Inc. Mr. Turner is Vice President of Corporate Tax at Smithfield Foods.
