KPMG Strengthens Commitment To Serve Start-Up And Venture-Backed Technology, Life Science Companies With New Cambridge Office
Expansion Demonstrates Firm's Commitment to the 'Entrepreneurial Ecosystem'
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, is taking a significant step to expand its practice for early-stage technology and life science companies with the signing of an agreement to open a new office at One Broadway in Kendall Square.
"This physical expansion is a key step in elevating our support to clients and the Cambridge innovation community," said Pat Canning, managing partner for KPMG's Boston office.
"The opportunity to open a new office in Cambridge and to be part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem near MIT is very important to us, and we are excited about joining the many companies that are moving back into Cambridge."
One Broadway is owned by an affiliate of MIT and has several prominent venture capital firms and other leading companies as tenants.
"KPMG wants to help these entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground and grow with them," said Audit Partner Ed Sullivan, who leads KPMG's New England Venture Capital Practice.
"We can assist companies from initial business and tax planning all the way through to preparing for IPOs, while providing access to all the services the firm offers."
In addition to audit and tax compliance, other services include:
- International transfer pricing
- Valuation and global tax planning
- Helping create efficiencies in supply chains
- Internal audit co-sourcing and regulatory compliance
KPMG's involvement in the innovation community includes sponsorship of Dogpatch labs, the Polaris Ventures incubator and the New England Venture Capital Association and its co-working space, Critical Mass.
"We're thrilled to have KPMG join us within the thriving community at One Broadway. We know they'll enjoy the benefit of easy access both to planned and spontaneous meetings with entrepreneurs that Kendall Square's density naturally offers," said New England Venture Capital Association Executive Director and Kendall Square Association Board Member C.A. Webb.
According to KPMG's Sullivan, the firm's Cambridge office will have an open design, including flexible conferencing space that will foster an environment for knowledge sharing and collaboration with technology and life science entrepreneurs, venture capital firms and other professionals active in the community.
KPMG has approximately 700 professionals and partners serving the Boston-area business community, and has been working with clients and other participants in the start-up community for many years.
