KPMG Names Stacy Sturgeon National Managing Partner for University Relations and Recruiting
NEW YORK, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, announced it has appointed Stacy Sturgeon to the position of national managing partner, university relations and recruiting. Sturgeon succeeds Manny Fernandez, who served in the role for the past four years and was recently appointed managing partner of KPMG's Dallas office.
Sturgeon, a partner in KPMG's audit practice, will be responsible for the firm's university recruiting programs and faculty relations. This includes the firm's award winning U.S. and global internship program, key faculty and classroom resources and training, and student diversity and leadership development initiatives. She will lead a robust campus recruiting and university relations organization that includes KPMG professionals throughout all regions of the United States.
"Having a consistently strong pipeline of new recruits along with solid relationships with the academic community is critical to the success of our profession and our firm," said KPMG LLP CEO John B. Veihmeyer. "KPMG is committed to being a great place to launch and build careers, and Stacy brings a wealth of experience with recruiting and client service to this role. We are proud to have her lead the firm's university and campus initiatives."
Sturgeon joined KPMG's Dallas office in 1992 and has more than 17 years of experience providing audit and related services to public and private clients, primarily in the retail and consumer markets. She has also served as a member of KPMG's Women's Advisory Board (WAB), a role through which she oversaw the expansion of KPMG's Network of Women (KNOW) from three chapters to nearly 60.
In addition to her client work, Sturgeon has substantial recruiting and university relations experience at schools such as Texas A&M University, her alma mater, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.
"Cultivating future generations of business leaders is a key contributor toward sustaining a thriving global marketplace," said Sturgeon. "I hope to drive our recruiting and university relations programs forward, continuing to position us well on campus in the eyes of both professors and students."
In the business community, Sturgeon serves as KPMG's co-representative on the National Retail Federation's Financial Executives Council and is a board member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Retail Executives Association. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, she is an advisory board member of Journey of Hope, a grief support center for children in Collin County, Texas.
