NEW YORK, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Joachim Schindler, head of audit for KPMG Europe LLP since 2007, has been named global head of audit for KPMG International, according to an announcement by Timothy P. Flynn, chairman, KPMG International.
In his new role, Schindler, 53, will lead the delivery and development of audit services across the global network of KPMG member firms. He will also continue as head of audit for KPMG Europe LLP and be a member of KPMG's global executive team.
As global head of audit for KPMG International, Schindler succeeds Henry R. Keizer, who was previously named deputy chairman and chief operating officer of KPMG LLP in the United States, and deputy chairman of KPMG Americas.
"Joachim Schindler brings broad experience serving a number of KPMG's largest global clients to his new role, as well as a record of exceptional leadership with KPMG in Europe and beyond the region. He is an outstanding professional with a passion for client service and will ensure we are driving the highest quality audit across the KPMG Global network," Flynn said.
"I look forward to working with our audit partners and professionals globally and building on Henry Keizer's achievements as we continue to focus on providing the highest quality audit services with the greatest possible efficiency," said Schindler. "Under Henry's leadership we launched the innovative eAudIT audit management tool and worked to help clients address regulatory and other challenges throughout the world. There is also an increasing interest in many parts of the world for expanding the role of audit to areas beyond financial data, such as sustainability, and KPMG will continue to grow our capabilities and the skills of our people to meet new and changing needs of our clients," Schindler added.
Schindler brings more than 20 years experience with KPMG to his new role, having served in a number of key leadership positions since joining the KPMG firm in Germany in 1989. In addition to leading audit for KPMG Europe LLP, Schindler has served as head of audit for KPMG Germany since 2004, where he is a member of the firm's Managing Board, and has also been head of audit for KPMG's Europe, Middle East and Africa region since 2005.
Schindler is a member of a number of professional organizations, including member of the board of Public Accountants in Germany and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). He earned a PhD in Economics from University Hagen and Diplom-Kaufmann degree in Economics from the University of Cologne.
