KPMG Named Top Community-Minded Organization In The U.S. Industrials Sector By Points Of Light
NEW YORK, July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP was named the top community-minded organization in the U.S. Industrials sector as a part of its ranking among the Civic 50, an annual initiative that measures and recognizes corporate civic engagement by the nonprofit organization Points of Light.
"At KPMG, we've embedded corporate responsibility into our priorities and practices, including a focus on improving our communities, driving inclusion and diversity, and developing next-generation leaders," said Sue Townsen, National Managing Partner, HR, Diversity and Corporate Responsibility at KPMG. "The value of our people's knowledge, skills and experience can have a lasting, positive impact on the communities in which we live and work, and we are proud to be recognized for our leadership in these areas as part of the Civic 50 list."
The Civic 50 helps to benchmark and share best practices for companies seeking to use their time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.
"Since 2012, we have seen a notable shift in the results from the survey in a direction that speaks to the commitment of American companies to connect values of community service and civic engagement to the culture and operating practices of their business," said Jennifer Lawson, Executive Director of the Corporate Institute at Points of Light.
The survey used to select the 2016 Civic 50 was administered by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations measure their social and business value, and was developed in partnership with a working group of researchers and industry thought leaders.
The 2016 Civic 50 applicants were evaluated based on criteria including:
- Quantity and impact of financial and human resources applied to civic improvement;
- Activation of internal and external resources to maximize community impact;
- How community engagement activities support a company's business interests,
- Support and integration of community engagement within company policies, systems and incentives; and
- Company measurement of the social and business value of its community engagement programs.
