KPMG LLP's Amy Matsuo Named to Consulting Magazine's 2014 Women Leaders in Consulting List
NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Amy Matsuo, principal in KPMG LLP's Regulatory Risk service network and National Leader of the firm's Financial Services Enterprise-wide Compliance and Consumer Regulatory group, has been named to Consulting magazine's 2014 list of Women Leaders in Consulting, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm announced today. Matsuo was recognized in the "Client Service" category and was one of only 12 women chosen from the more than 400 nominations that were submitted.
Matsuo joined KPMG LLP in 1997 and has more than two decades of experience in financial services compliance and in guiding companies to manage complex enterprise-wide compliance programs. She leads the firm's regulatory compliance, consumer protection and fair lending assistance efforts for a diverse array of financial institutions, including major financial services companies, large mortgage servicers and lenders and government-sponsored entities.
"Amy is a shining example of KPMG's talented and knowledgeable leaders that enable the firm to provide clients critical guidance on how to navigate the changing regulatory landscape," said Lynne Doughtie, vice chair – Advisory for KPMG LLP. "Her record for overseeing and delivering complex risk management and compliance solutions across the financial services industry is impressive and she is well deserving of this distinguished honor."
Matsuo is a recognized authority on key regulatory issues, including the impact of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act on financial institutions. She also leads KPMG's work on the nation's largest bank and nonbank financial service compliance risk and consumer protection management and assessment projects.
"I am honored to be recognized among such an accomplished group of highly capable women leaders in the profession," said Matsuo. "Throughout my career, I have worked hard to maintain an uncompromised focus on a high level of client service and I share this philosophy with those I have had the privilege to work with and to mentor."
Matsuo is a member of KPMG's Network of Women, comprising 60 local chapters, which was established to help support women's initiatives and enhance the personal and professional objectives of KPMG's women professionals. She was also a national recipient of KPMG's Chairman's Award for Excellence in Volunteerism.
A resident of Raleigh, NC, Matsuo holds a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Pittsburgh.
Consulting magazine's recognition of Matsuo on this esteemed list represents the fourth consecutive year in which a KPMG LLP professional has received this honor. In 2013, Linda Imonti, the West Region Advisory Leader and National Business Intelligence Leader for KPMG LLP, was recognized in the "Leadership Category"; Laura Hay, principal in KPMG LLP's Insurance Practice and National Sector Leader for Insurance, was recognized in the "Leadership Category" in 2012; and Claudia Saran, leader of KPMG LLP's People & Change services, was named to the "Client Service" list in 2011.
