KPMG LLP Names Steven Hill Vice Chair -- Strategic Investments
Oversees inorganic growth initiatives, new service line development and key alliances
NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, has appointed Steven Hill, 47, to the cross-functional role of vice chair -- Strategic Investments, KPMG LLP Chairman and CEO John Veihmeyer announced today.
In his new role, Hill is responsible for overseeing the firm's innovation and new service line development efforts, building key alliances in the marketplace, and driving inorganic growth. He also joins the U.S. firm's management committee.

Hill succeeds Mark Goodburn, who was recently named global head of Advisory for KPMG International.
Hill has been recognized as a leader in the advisory community, including being named to Consulting magazine's list of "Top 25 Consultants" and prominently featured in a variety of leading industry journals and publications.

Hill has more than 25 years of consulting experience, having served in a variety of client-service and leadership roles at KPMG LLP and previously. Most recently, he was national leader of innovation for Advisory, where he was instrumental in the planning, development and deployment of new services, focusing on Business Transformation, Public Policy and Regulatory Reform, Evolving Risk Management, Alternative Investments, Cloud, Analytics, and Digital Media.
Prior to his current tenure with KPMG LLP, Hill was a senior vice president at BearingPoint Inc. and a member of the BearingPoint Operating Committee.
Earlier in his career, Hill was a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and managing director of strategic planning for SHL Systemhouse, where he focused on transformational outsourcing and managed business development in Latin America.
Hill earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and completed an executive MBA in Vevey, Switzerland.

Steven Hill most recently served as national innovation leader for KPMG LLP, directing new service development and innovation activities across the firm's audit, tax and advisory functions. Previously Hill served as KPMG Americas Region Advisory services leader.
Prior to this role, Hill was a senior vice president at BearingPoint, Inc. (formerly KPMG Consulting, Inc.) and a member of the BearingPoint Operating Committee.
Before Bearing Point, Inc., Hill worked for KPMG Consulting, Inc. where he was the Partner-In-Charge of the Southwest Area for consulting services, co-leader of the Consumer and Industrial Markets (CIM) Industry Line of Business and the global leader for the World Class Information Technology Services practice. Hill was also a founding partner of KPMG Consulting, Inc.
Prior to joining KPMG LLP, Hill was the managing director of strategic planning for SHL Systemhouse. At SHL Systemhouse, he was a contributing architect in the creation of Transformational Outsourcing. Hill also served as the managing director of business development for SHL Systemhouse Latin American operations for all professional services and alliances.
Hill also served as a manager with McKinsey & Company for five years and a consultant with American Management Systems for three years.
Hill received his Bachelor of Science degree in nautical science and software engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He completed an executive masters of business administration program in Vevey, Switzerland, while a manager with McKinsey & Company.
