KPMG LLP Names Chris Monteiro as chief communications officer
NEW YORK, May 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Chris Monteiro as the firm's chief communications officer, effective May 25.
In this role, Monteiro will be responsible for developing a proactive, strategic communications agenda that supports the overall objectives of the firm and its leadership. Monteiro and his team will manage all aspects of the communications function, including: media relations, issues/crisis management, leadership communications, corporate reputation, internal communications, and digital/social communications.
Monteiro most recently served as chief communications and digital marketing officer at MasterCard, where he led globally integrated communications programs designed to help drive the company's business performance and reputation.

Monteiro brings more than two decades of experience in senior-level communications positions. As chief communications officer at MasterCard since 2011, Monteiro and his award-winning, global team were responsible for overall reputation management, including digital and social marketing and communications, employee communications, external influencer relations, crisis management, thought leadership programming, and public policy communications.
Prior to MasterCard, Monteiro worked for several marketing and public relations agencies representing a number of major consumer brands. Earlier in his career, he worked at ESPN and at the University of Connecticut.
Monteiro is a member of The Arthur W. Page Society, the professional association for senior public relations and corporate communications executives. He is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and was recognized by PR Week among its "Power 50" (July 2015) and by The Holmes Report as one of the 100 Most Important In-House Communicators.
