KPMG Captures Two International Accounting Bulletin Awards
Awarded "Sustainable Firm of the Year" and "Social Networking Champion," KPMG is the only multiple winner in the 2013 competition
LONDON, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG International is a double recipient of 2013 International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) Awards, which were presented in London on March 14th. For the second consecutive year, KPMG has been awarded "Sustainable Firm of the Year," and is the IAB's first-time winner as "Social Networking Champion": http://www.internationalaccountingbulletin.com/news/iab-2013-winners-revealed/
According to IAB, the global magazine covering the professional services industry, the Awards recognize organizations that have risen above their peers in the past 12 months in individual excellence, innovative practices and commercial performance.
The award for "Social Networking Champion" recognizes KPMG's WEFlive service (www.WEFlive.com), the innovative Twitter aggregation service that distilled in real-time the Twitter conversations from delegates attending the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. KPMG's Global Digital Marketing team expanded the capabilities of WEFlive for 2013, after a successful launch in 2012, achieving a even higher level of engagement at Davos this year, with tweets about the WEFlive site reaching an audience of 4.85 million people on Twitter.
According to the IAB Awards judges, the WEFlive service showed great initiative, filtering through huge volumes of information to present only the most important insights along with powerful search and data visualization features, while also taking advantage of different social media platforms, including Twitter and Pinterest.
In securing the repeat award for "Sustainable Firm of the Year", the KPMG Global Citizenship team demonstrated KPMG's global leadership across a range of corporate sustainability initiatives.
Highlights include the Global Green Initiative for environmental sustainability, which has seen KPMG firms meet aggressive goals in reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency, while KPMG's Climate Change & Sustainability Services was recognized by the 2013 Verdantix Global Sustainability Leaders Survey: Brands, which scored KPMG highest among all organizations on brand preference for sustainability assurance services[1].
Other sustainability initiatives highlighted included the KPMG Global Development Initiative, which is focused on helping find sustainable solutions to global and local poverty issues. The IAB Awards judges took special note of KPMG's dedication to new corporate citizenship initiatives across its network, offering thought leadership, research projects as well as internal initiatives making the organizations increasingly sustainable worldwide.
"KPMG is extremely proud to receive these awards and thanks the International Accounting Bulletin for this recognition," said Lord Michael Hastings, KPMG's Global Head of Citizenship. "We appreciate the opportunity to present innovative initiatives of the global organization and member firms and show not only how they are impacting our business but more importantly how KPMG professionals are applying them to benefit clients, the business community and society at large."
