KPMG And Nuix Form Strategic Alliance To Help Clients Manage Unstructured Data
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. and NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory services firm, and Nuix, a technology company that enables people to make fact-based decisions from unstructured data, today announced a new alliance to assist clients with the management and handling of large volumes of unstructured data for digital investigations, cybersecurity, eDiscovery, information governance, email migration, and privacy.
This strategic relationship combines KPMG LLP's holistic Forensic Technology capabilites with the Nuix Engine, an advanced technology that provides fast and accurate data indexing, searching and analysis. These combined proficiencies improve visibility into unstructured data within an enterprise to identify and protect personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI) and other confidential data.
KPMG Forensic Technology assists clients to achieve high levels of compliance and efficiency in managing records and information, developing efficient, repeatable business processes for responding to legal and regulatory requests for Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and providing effective collection, processing and hosting of ESI for review, production, and is an industry leader in cyber incident response and cyber investigation.
"With the proliferation of Big Data, organizations are grappling with how to mitigate risk while maintaining the appropriate levels of data security, storage, and retrieval access―all at the lowest possible cost," said Ed Goings, principal and national co-leader of KPMG's Forensic Technology practice. "KPMG has succesfully used Nuix as its primary tool to process electronic data for fraud and cyber investigation and eDiscovery matters for the past four years. By formalizing and deepening our alliance relationship, we will create the structure necessary to drive our market efforts, better serve our clients, and launch a new chapter of growth."
KPMG and Nuix will also help clients easily locate and collect data for regulatory compliance, reduce the volume of data subject to eDiscovery, and gain control of infrastructure storage costs.
"Organizations that have learned to work with unstructured information for investigation and eDiscovery already have the skills to solve many other enterprise data challenges, because data is just data. Once you gain visibility into its content, you can make effective decisions and implement them," said Eddie Sheehy, CEO of Nuix. "We're excited to be working with KPMG as their clients take control, reduce risk and extract value from their data across new areas including cybersecurity, information governance, email migration, and privacy."
