The Teradata Data Warehouse platform brings powerful visibility to terabytes of detailed web and customer data in near-real time, so that E-Mart's marketers can access customer interaction data at the time customers are "live" online. This innovative approach is an example of the advanced marketing techniques practiced by leading retailers across the world. The Teradata system gives marketers access to detailed analysis for each customer. By analyzing shopper characteristics, such as one-timers, price-sensitive, or health-conscious, businesses gain insight into which products customers will purchase. Teradata also provides custom communications and contact optimization for each customer shopping online, by offering differentiated information during each customer's visit.
In addition, through the new e-CRM on/offline link analysis system and services for the Teradata database platform, E-Mart is improving customer analysis functions that were lagging in conventional online stores, creating an on/offline synergistic effect. In addition, an extensive internet analytic superstructure system can be implemented to drive even higher levels of effective customer service through deeply personalized pages and special campaigns that boost online customer activity at the online store.
Meanwhile, multi-dimensional analysis functions for diverse complex user requirements can be provided by implementing MicroStrategy's business intelligence software with the Teradata platform. Another option for marketers is to create and launch promotions with Ubigent's campaign management system using the Teradata data warehouse.
"Teradata is honored to play a role in the online store marketing CRM project after having worked on the offline data warehouse for industry-leader Shinsegae E-Mart," said Yoon Moon-Seok, CEO, Teradata Korea. "We will keep doing our best to help customers meet their business goals in the future by providing cost effective, easy on-the-floor application, and task adaptiveness using Teradata solutions."
Along with Teradata, Shinsegae E-Mart also selected and implemented the Protegrity DPS Data Security Platform, a high-performance, enterprise-class software solution that continuously secures sensitive data in databases, backup and storage systems.
Teradata Korea completed system development in July 2010 and put it in operation after it successfully passed the pre-production testing stage.
While comparing Teradata and its competitor IBM, Shinsegae E-Mart selected Teradata's e-CRM on/offline link analysis system because Teradata already had useful working knowledge from its previous work on E-Mart's database-driven analytics system, expertise in retail sector analysis, and on/offline link analysis expertise.
Teradata's business momentum in retail continues steadily in Korea and around the world, including seven of the top ten global retailers. In the region, Teradata is used by Galleria Department Stores, Lotte Department Store, Lotte Super, Shinsegae Department Store, Shinsegae E-Mart, Aekyung Retail Group, Korea Seven, Hyundai Department Store, and Hyundai Home Shopping.
