Kopp Drug Selects Activant Eagle Solution
Pennsylvania-based independent drugstore chain looks to elevate its retail business with Activant Eagle technology
LIVERMORE, Calif., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Activant Solutions Inc., a leading provider of retail and distribution business management solutions, today announced that Kopp Drug Inc. has selected the Activant Eagle® software platform to be its business management and Point-of-Sale (POS) solution. Kopp executives selected the Activant Eagle solution to help them improve inventory management and add operational efficiencies.
In business since 1925, Kopp Drug is an independent community pharmacy chain with 10 locations throughout central Pennsylvania. Frustrated with their previous system's inability to effectively manage inventory and handle flexible spending account (FSA) card transactions, Kopp executives began evaluating new POS solutions earlier this year. They were immediately impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism exhibited by the Activant sales team.
"At Kopp Drug, we pride ourselves on outstanding personalized service. In Activant, we have found a technology partner that clearly shares this focus," said William Earnest, Chief Operating Officer of Kopp Drug. "I have had many meetings with software and hardware vendors, and I have never met an organization that analyzed my business as thoroughly as Activant. They took the time to really understand our business and our needs before making their first recommendations."
The pharmacy marketplace is undergoing a major shift, and pharmacy owners are being forced to improve their retail systems and practices in order to survive. Independent community pharmacies are looking for ways to expand their retail business and become a primary shopping destination. For these pharmacies, this translates into having an extensive mix of merchandise, pricing these products competitively and having them readily available to customers. Kopp Drug executives selected the Activant Eagle system to elevate each of these critical functions.
"We are looking to increase our overall sales and profitability with the help of the Eagle system's advanced inventory controls. We plan to use the Activant Eagle solution to provide complete inventory visibility and control across our 10 stores," added Earnest. The Eagle reporting and analytics tools are designed to give Kopp executives real-time insight into stock levels and aid in making better buying decisions. Kopp's clerks will also have improved inventory visibility and will be able to access and sell inventory from other Kopp store locations.
Kopp Drugs uses the QS-1 pharmacy management software solution to run its back of store Rx business. In selecting a pharmacy retail POS system, they wanted a solution that would readily integrate with the QS-1 software. Activant has already developed and successfully implemented a data bridge to the QS-1 software.
"Being a successful retailer is about having the right merchandise, in the right place, at the right time," said Scott Hanson, Senior Vice President of Sales for Activant. "Activant is very proud to be working with Kopp Drug to help them manage their impressive inventory, while also giving them the tools to elevate their retail operations and decision-making."
