SEATTLE, Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to provide 24 elevators and 12 escalators in Seattle's Eighth and Howell Convention Center Hotel. Through KONE's award-winning product design, elevator call personalization and security options, KONE Polaris™ improves the user experience of riding an elevator and efficiently gets passengers to their destination.
KONE will also install 12 KONE TravelMaster™ escalators, six KONE MonoSpace® machine room-less elevators and two freight elevators to facilitate people flow throughout the eight-story convention center at the building's base.
Debuting KONE JumpLift in U.S.
KONE is proud to announce the U.S. debut of KONE JumpLift in two elevators as part of this Seattle project. KONE JumpLift is a self-climbing elevator used as an alternative to traditional exterior hoists during the construction process. With KONE JumpLift, workers spend less time waiting for exterior hoists and more time working, resulting in a faster-build process. KONE JumpLift is a proven construction innovation that has been used in several KONE projects internationally, including in a project in Canada.
"We are delighted to be part of the Eighth and Howell Convention Center Hotel project and to be delivering a comprehensive set of innovative elevator and escalator solutions," said Larry Wash, executive vice president for KONE Americas. "We are equally excited to work with Sellen Construction in utilizing KONE JumpLift, which helps efficiently transport construction workers. The result is a faster completed building, which enables a quicker handover to our customer."
Eighth and Howell Convention Center Hotel will feature a hotel tower, ground-level retail, and roughly 105,000 square feet of conference space. Upon completion, the hotel's 1,264 rooms will make it the largest hotel in the Pacific Northwest. The contract was awarded by Elliott NE, LLC (RC Hedreen Co.) and construction management is being performed by Sellen Construction.
